Empire Strikes Back (1980)

This is an original, insert theatrical movie poster from 1980 for The Empire Strikes Back starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, James Earl Jones, Kenny Baker, Peter Meyhew, Frank Oz and Alex Guinness. Irvin Kershner directed the Star Wars sequel.   Roger Kastel is the artist for the poster.   The Style A poster has a "Gone with the Wind" motif and was recalled from theaters due to the omission of Billy Dee Williams (who was contractually guaranteed to be on promotional posters for the film).

There are many reproductions of this poster for sale online.  By 1980, fewer and fewer movie theaters ordered insert posters so the number printed was already low compared to other poster sizes.  This insert comes directly from a former theater owner that kept the poster after theatrical release in 1980.  Like every poster we sell, the poster has a lifetime guarantee of authenticity.

The poster was printed in the United States for use in theaters outside the country.  It measures 14" x 36" and is in very good condition with staple holes in the corners and on the left and right, white edges from theatrical display.  There is a tiny dot of discoloration on the bottom-right white edge and a few, tiny surface creases from previous handling and storage.  The poster was folded after printing and there is some fine wear and creasing along the fold likes.  The poster displays very nicely with the signs of theatrical display but it could certainly be restored to minimize these flaws.
